A body scan is exactly what it sounds like — a slow, deliberate journey of attention through the body. It’s often done lying down or sitting comfortably, with eyes closed. The aim is not to change the body, but simply to notice it. You bring awareness to different parts of the body in sequence — your toes, your legs, your belly, your arms — with curiosity and non-judgment.
In sobriety this supports us by giving us a deep relaxation that we will have felt we used to get from alcohol, but in a completely harmless way... in fact the more you do this exercise the better you'll get at it and the more calm you'll feel overall.
That’s it. Simple. But incredibly effective.
You can listen at any time of the day to suit you.
It runs at 15 minutes so settle down, pop those headphones in and enjoy this deep relaxation. Never listen whilst driving.
