This is always a difficult one for any employer to broach. The one thing you can't do is march into a work environment and 'talk about alcohol'. Nothing will switch people off more quickly!

Given that in England alone, there are an estimated 602,391 dependent drinkers with only 18% are receiving treatment, you can pretty much guarantee that someone in your workplace is struggling and maybe hiding it well.

This is where my background helps me to understand corporate dynamics. I have nearly 30 years experience in the corporate world from my time in marketing and film production, working with clients in many different industries. My past clients include all sizes of company from SME's right through to large organisations, both in the public and private sector, and so I have hands on experience of what is needed to support an employee's mental health at all levels and in a wide range of environments.

You don't need to march in and talk about alcohol... what you can do is start a conversation about mental health and support employees in that way. Building trust and rapport in a professional way and that's where I come in.

SUPPORT IN THE WORKPLACE
LOUISA EVANS
Dip. CBH, Dip. SMRB

The common theme when it comes to mental health in the workplace is people and so we start from a place of nurturing all their mental health needs. As we all know, retaining and nurturing good employees makes good business sense and everyone has ups and downs. Using CBT and a wealth of other tools, I now work with a select few organisations to support their teams or individuals with:

  • Lack of confidence

  • Resistance to change

  • Conflict resolution

  • Concerns at home

  • Building emotional resilience

  • Stress management

  • Anxiety or feelings of being overwhelmed

  • Overcoming negative thinking patterns

  • Alcohol or substance abuse worries

By offering a private and confidential support service and workshops on various subjects, I am able to gently broach certain areas. If people are interested, I can work with hypnotherapy in private client sessions, however that isn't necessary when working with groups. I focus on using mental health tools that fit best with your company and environment.

I offer many different ways of supporting your teams from 1-2-1 sessions to help individuals who express an interest, through to intimate team workshops to open up the floor and talk about various aspects of mental health in a safe, supportive and judgement free zone.

I tailor the support to your organisations needs and can work out of my clinic in Newent or come to your premises. As I am an accredited practitioner with the General Hypnotherapy Register and General Hypnotherapy Standards Council, I am also able to work with many health insurers or company health schemes.
